A 4-bit shift register 26 and a plurality of gate pulse selection circuits 27 are formed on the outside of a display part 21 of a liquid crystal panel 20. The shift register 26 generates a selection signal based on a signal outputted from a control circuit. Gate pulse selection circuit 27 consist of plural switch circuits, and these switch circuits are turned on by the selection signal to electrically connect wiring where gate pulse signals GP1 to GP192 pass, and a gate bus line. Gate pulse signals GP1 to GP192 are made active in only one horizontal period in turn on a cycle of 192 horizontal synchronizing periods.
