To provide a method for driving a liquid crystal display device capable of video displaying while suppressing generation of reverse transition in the case of adopting a liquid crystal mode which carries out displaying while making the liquid crystal change to an orientation state different from that of a non-displaying period and the liquid crystal display device.
In the liquid crystal display device in which video signals are successively written in a plurality of pixels per frame (Tf) and voltages Vd1-Vdn corresponding to the video signals are retained in the respective pixels and the videos are displayed by controlling modulation of the liquid crystal layer made to change to the orientation state for displaying corresponding to the retained voltages, a reversal transition prevention voltage ΔV to prevent reversed transition of the liquid crystal layer is temporarily superimposed on the voltages Vd1-Vdn corresponding to the video signals in a retaining period Th of the voltages Vd1-Vdn corresponding to the video signals.
