To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of improving clearness of a liquid crystal display by intercepting light on the boundary of regions to be irradiated to which different colors of light are respectively applied on the inner part of a liquid crystal panel.
The liquid crystal display device comprises: a plurality of backlights 5a, 5b which apply light from a backside position of the liquid crystal panel 7 to the rear surface 8 of the liquid crystal panel 7; and a partition member 3 which is disposed extendedly to the back side of the rear surface 8 of the liquid crystal panel 7, divides the rear surface 8 of the liquid crystal panel 7 into a first region 8a to be irradiated and a second region 8b to be irradiated respectively irradiated by the plurality of backlights 5a, 5b and partition the rear surface 8 of the liquid crystal panel 7 so that the backlights 5a, 5b irradiate the first region 8a to be irradiated and the second region 8b to be irradiated respectively. Further, a color of light from the first backlight 5a which irradiates the first region 8a to be irradiated is differentiated from a color of light from the second backlight 5b which irradiates the second region 8b to be irradiated and, on the other hand, the liquid crystal panel 7 includes a light shielding part 13 on the boundary between the first region 8a to be irradiated and the second region 8b to be irradiated neighboring the first region 8a to be irradiated therein.
