To provide a thin liquid crystal display device which is reduced in power consumption by making illumination light incident on sub-pixels of the same color without causing a light quantity loss by constituting an optical system so that the color array order of sub-pixels is different from the color array order of the illumination light from a light source.
The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel having a color filter comprising sub-pixels of red, green and blue, and a back light which irradiates the back of the liquid crystal panel with illumination light beams of red, green and blue emitted from light emission bodies. When illumination light beams of the same colors with the sub-pixels are made to be incident on the sub-pixels, the color array order of the sub-pixels and the color array order of light emission bodies are different from each other.
