When a luminance gradation value of an image frame is transited in order of low luminance gradation, low luminance gradation and intermediate luminance gradation, such processing is performed based on pre-tilt LUT31 that a luminance gradation value of an image frame of low luminance gradation positioned at immediately before intermediate luminance gradation is replaced to a gradation value for pre-tilt of luminance gradation being higher than the luminance gradation value of an image frame of low luminance gradation positioned at immediately before intermediate luminance gradation. Further, based on over-drive LUT 32, such processing is performed that a luminance gradation value of the image frame of intermediate luminance gradation is replaced to a gradation value for over-drive of luminance gradation being higher than the luminance gradation value of the image frame of intermediate luminance gradation. Then, luminance required in the (n)th frame is obtained by matching luminance when displaying the image frame replaced to the gradation value for pre-tilt and luminance when displaying the image frame replaced to the gradation value for over-drive.
