To provide a liquid crystal display device having both a touch sensing function and a shielding function against an external electric field.
A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate including in an active area displaying an image, a common electrode formed across a plurality of pixels, an insulation film covering the common electrode, a pixel electrode provided for each pixel on the insulation film, facing the common electrode, and having a slit, and a capacitive touch sensing wire; a second substrate including an insulation substrate; an optical element including a polarization plate disposed in the active area on the insulation substrate; a conductive layer disposed in the active area on the optical element; a ground potential pad formed in an extension part of the first substrate which extends outward beyond an end of the second substrate; and a connection member for electrically connecting the pad and the conductive layer exposed out of the optical element.
