Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of achieving both a narrow frame and uniform display qualities, and stable joint between a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight irradiating the liquid crystal display panel with light. The backlight includes a light-emitting element (not shown in the figure), a light guide plate LG that guides emitted light from the light-emitting element, and a frame MD that holds at least the light guide plate. At least a part of a side end of the light guide plate has a tapered cross section, in which a taper angle θ formed by the bottom face of the light guide plate and the side face of the light guide plate in the tapered shape is 36 degrees or more and 51.3 degrees or less. In the frame MD, a part corresponding to the side end in the tapered shape of the light guide plate is tapered in a cross section similar to the light guide plate in such a manner that the side face of light guide plate is opposite to the side face of the frame at a predetermined distance.
