Abstract:
To provide a liquid crystal display device in a horizontal alignment mode with excellent display quality of transmissive display, in which the external light reflection is prevented while the luminance is improved by a structure of having a thin film transistor substrate disposed on an observation surface side.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes, in the order from an observation surface side to a rear surface side, a circular polarization plate 60 including a linear polarization plate 11 and a first quarter wave retardation layer 21, a thin film transistor substrate 100 including a pair of electrodes 150 and 170 disposed in an area 10AA inside a pixel region and a metal wire disposed in an area 10NA outside the pixel region, a liquid crystal layer 40 containing liquid crystal molecules horizontally aligned with respect to the thin film transistor substrate, in which the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules changes by voltage application to the pair of electrodes, a color filter substrate 200 including a color filter layer 230, and a backlight 50. The thin film transistor substrate includes a second quarter wave retardation layer 22. The color filter substrate includes a reflection layer 221 disposed outside the pixel region and reflecting incident light from the backlight to the rear surface side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
