Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make the transmitted light quantity of a picture element constant and to manufacture a screen which is easily viewed by setting the ratio of the area of the picture element constituted of electrodes to approximately the ratio of the inverses of transmissivities per unit area of the corresponding color filters. CONSTITUTION:The plural color filters 2, 3 and 4 are provided between a pair of substrates 1. Then, the ratio of the area of the picture element constituted of the electrodes 5 and 8 is set to approxinate inverses of the transmissivities per unit area of the corresponding filters 2, 3 and 4. Therefore, the thickness of a liquid crystal layer is uniform and color uneveness does not occur. Besides, since the electric field intensity of an impressed voltage is uniform at the whole places, a switching condition is not varied due to the place. Then, the difference between the transmissivity of the color filters whose colors are different is made by making the area of the color filter or the electrode corresponding to the color filter different. Thus, display which is clear and without the color uneveness is realized and many colors are uniformly displayed.
