CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display element has a pair of substrates 11, 21 having liquid crystal driving electrodes 21, 22 on the inside surface and a liquid crystal dispersion layer 30 constituted of a liquid crystal part 31 between these two substrates 11 and 21 and a base 32 for dividing this liquid crystal part 31 to fine regions. The above-mentioned liquid crystal part 31 is constituted of a compsn. which consists substantially of a nematic liquid crystal and an optically active material. In addition, the natural pitch of the liquid crystal compsn. is shorter as the temp. is higher.
