Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality image display by eliminating the cell gap differences in the separating parts of segment electrodes in a liquid crystal display element of a dual scan system. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display element is constituted by disposing a first substrate 1A which has plural color filters 3 segmented by black matrices 2 and plural common electrodes 5A at least in display regions and a second substrate 1B which has segment electrodes 5B which are parallel with at least at the display regions, intersect orthogonally with the common electrodes 5A and constitute the two scanning electrode groups by separating in the parts facing the black matrices 2 opposite to each other apart a prescribed spacing, adhering the outer peripheries of the display regions by sealing materials and sealing a liquid crystal layer having a helix angle of >=180 deg. into this spacing. The thickness at the end of the color filters 3 superposed on the black matrices 2 facing the separating parts 11 is set equal to the thickness of the segment electrodes 5B.
