To provide a liquid crystal display wherein the gap in an effective display region is uniform and fixed without using spacers mixed with beads and the like and to provide its manufacturing method.
In the liquid crystal display 10 comprising substrates 1 and 2 at least one of which is transparent and which have an electrode and an alignment layer formed on one surfaces thereof, respectively, and are opposed to each other so that the surfaces on which the electrode and the alignment layer are formed, respectively, are opposed to each other, spacers 3 disposed between the substrates 1 and 2 opposed to each other and a liquid crystal 5 encapsulated between the substrates and formed by sealing the peripheral part of the substrates 1 and 2 opposed to each other, the spacers 3 contain an adhesive component and the spacers 3 are adhered to the both substrates 1 and 2 by the adhesive component.
