PURPOSE: To enlarge a visual field angle by a simple method, by constituting the titled crystal display panel, so that an optical path difference of a liquid crystal is set to a range of 0.7W0.9, and also, a polarizing angle by a polarizing plate is adjusted to a range of 20W50° from the rubbing angle.
CONSTITUTION: A full line in the figure shows a rubbing direction 1 of an oriented film which is provided on the upper and lower substrates, and a crossing angle 1 is a rubbing angle. Also, a broken line shows a polarizing direction 2 of a polarizing plate which is set onto the upper and lower substrates, a crossing angle 2 shows a polarizing angle and the difference 2-1 is a polarizing angle Δ. In such a way, by adjusting the rubbing angle 1 and the polarizing angle 2, a distinct image is obtained. At the time of a value of the polarizing plate angle Δ is fixed to -20°, and in such a state, a value of a visual field angle characteristic exponent β is derived by varying a value of Δn.d in such a state, the value of β approaches '1' within the range of 0.7W0.9. Therefore, a liquid crystal display panel whose visual angle dependency is small is formed by holding a value of the optical path difference Δn.d, and a value of Δ, in 0.7W0.9, and an optimum value of a range of 20W50°.
