Abstract:
To provide a liquid crystal display with les color variations in an oblique direction during black display.
This liquid crystal display has inside a liquid crystal cell at least one cell optical compensation layer, formed of a liquid crystal composition containing a disk-shaped liquid crystal compound, where the in-plane retardation Re (550) of wavelength 550 nm of the cell optical compensation layer is 0-10 nm; the retardation Rth (550) in the thickness direction of the same wavelength is 200-400 nm; and Rth (450) of the cell optical compensation layer and the thickness direction retardation Rth (550) of wavelength 550 nm satisfy expression (1): 1.05Rth(450)/Rth(550)1.15.
