Abstract:

To obtain a highly reliable liquid crystal orientation film capable of maintaining excellent characteristics even under a severe use environment.

A polymer (A) such as a polyimide, and a compound (B) represented by following formula (1), are included in a liquid crystal orientation agent, where, R¹ is a hydrogen atom or an univalent organic group bonded to a nitrogen atom through a chain hydrocarbon group or an alicyclic hydrocarbon group, R² and R³ are each a divalent organic group bonded to a nitrogen atom through a chain hydrocarbon group, an alicyclic hydrocarbon group or *-CO-R⁴-, X¹ is a nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocycle, X² is a cyclic ether group or a polymerizable unsaturated group, m is 0 or 1, n is an integer of 1 to 3, and m is 0 when n is 3.
