Abstract:
To obtain a liquid crystal orienting agent with which good orientation of a liquid crystal and high pretilt angle can be obtd.
This liquid crystal orienting agent contains two or more kinds of polymers selected from a group of polyamic acids and imidized polymers having a structure obtd. by dehydration and ring-closing reaction of polyamic acids. The polymers included in the orienting agent have such features that with the larger imidization degree of the polymer, the surface free energy of the polymer increases, or that with the larger imidization degree of the polymer, the surface free energy of the polymer decreases.
