Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive, miniature and light projection device whose color purity is high and bright, and also, whose color specification range is wide, by executing a color display by an additive color mixture system.

CONSTITUTION: A color display is executed by an additive color mixture method constituted of three pieces of twisted nematic liquid crystal liquid crystal elements and two pieces of dichroic polarizing plates, one piece of twisted nematic guest/host liquid crystal element and a neutral polarizing plate. That is to say, projected rays converted to parallel rays by a collimating lens 2 pass through the element constitution of dichroic polarizing plates 3, 4 and a neutral polarizing plate 5, twisted nematic liquid crystal elements 6, 7 and 8 and a twisted nematic guest/host liquid crystal element 9. By driving selectively the liquid crystal elements 6, 7, 8 and 9 by each liquid crystal driving 11, 12, 13 and 14, coloring is executed, and by enlarging by a projection lens 10, color character information and image information are displayed on a screen 15. In such a way, an inexpensive projection device whose color purity is high and bright, and whose color specification range is wide is obtained.
