Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continue play while preventing a liquid crystal panel from being broken owing to overheating.
SOLUTION: This projector is provided with an overheating preventing means consisting of a cooling device 2, abnormal state detecting circuits (4, 5, 5a, etc.) which detects an abnormal state of a light source 6, etc., and a power supply reducing circuit 9 which reduces the electric power supplied to the light source 6 in response to the output from a circuit. Consequently, even if the cooling device 2, etc., does not operate normally and stops, the electric power supplied to the light source 6 is reduced to suppress a rise in the temperature of the liquid crystal panel 3 while giving the liquid crystal panel 3 luminance enough to continue the play, so that the play can be continued.
