PURPOSE: To obtain the liquid crystal projector device with which a wide color range is obtd. and good color images are formed as the light of a wavelength region near 575nm is sharply attenuated.

CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal projector device has a metal halide discharge lamp 10 of a short arc type, a concave reflection mirror 20 which is so provided as to enclose this metal halide discharge lamp 10 and is formed with multilayered films consisting of high-refractive index layers and low-refractive index layers on the inside surface, filters 41, 42 for separating the light reflected by this concave reflection mirror 20 to three primary colors of light and 3 pieces of liquid crystal plates 51 to 53 to be projected with each of the light rays transmitted through these filters 41, 42. The multilayered films of the above-mentioned device exhibit the reflection characteristic having at least one min. value at which the reflectivity attains ≤50% in the wavelength region of 540 to 610nm and this concave reflection mirror 20 is formed thin on the central peak part side and thick on the peripheral aperture side.
