This liquid crystal shutter X1 includes a first substrate 10 having translucency, a second substrate 20 that has translucency and is arranged so as to face the first substrate 10, a sealing member 30 for sealing liquid crystal between the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 20, an electrode 40 for a shutter for applying voltage to the liquid crystal LC, and an electrode 60 for heating for supplying heat to the liquid crystal LC. The sealing member 30 has a defining section 31 for defining a sealing region S of the liquid crystal LC. The electrode 40 for the shutter is formed on at least one of the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 20, and is positioned in the sealing region S defined by the defining section 31 in the plan view. The electrode 60 for heating is formed on at least one of the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 20, and is positioned out of the sealing region S defined by the defining section 31 in the plan view.
