Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL WATCH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55104784
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To always automatically synchronize digital indication with analog indication on a liquid crystal watch by using a liquid crystal indicator on the analog indication and employing similar drive method for both digital and analog indications.

CONSTITUTION: An analog indicator has five transparent electrodes called "line electrodes" on one surface of both-side electrodes inside the base plate, and twentyfour transparent electrodes called "block electrodes" on the other surface thereof. The indicator thus incorporates 60 picture elements of inner layer, 60 picture elements of outer layer, totally to 120 picture elements in superimposed position to each other. The analog hour indication uses one of the picture elements on the inner periphery, the minute indication uses respective picture elements on the inner and outer peripheries, and the second incication uses the one picture element on the outer periphery. Both the analog and the digital indications are driven by the similar signal upon multiplex drive. Both indications, for example, indicates 10 o'clock, 24 minutes, 35 seconds a.m. Even if the indication is switched to other function by a switch operation, the latter can be again switched back to the original indication. At that time both the analog and digital indications synchronize each other.
