To provide a liquid detergent composition for clothes which, while containing soap, i.e., a fatty acid salt, has an improved solubility in cold water, prevents the separation of soap scum even in highly hard water at low temperatures, and exhibits a high detergency.

This liquid detergent composition contains a fatty acid salt and a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether having the number of moles of added oxyalkylene of 10 or higher and/or a fatty acid polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether having the number of moles of added oxyalkylene of 3 or higher and/or a fatty acid polyoxyalkylene ether having the number of moles of added oxyalkylene of 3 or higher. The fatty acid salt in an amount higher than 10 mass% but not higher than 50 mass% is compounded, and so is the polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether and/or the fatty acid polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether and/or the fatty acid polyoxyalkylene ether in an amount of 6 mass% or higher but not higher than 50 mass%.
