To obtain a liq. detergent compsn. which exhibits an excellent detergency in cleaning soap scum and sebum and in removability of bubbles by compounding a nonionic surfactant and/or an alkanolamide, a betaine surfactant, and a sulfurcontg. polycarboxylic acid in a specified wt. ratio.
This compsn. is prepd. by compounding at least one surfactant (A) selected from among nonionic surfactants and alkanolamides, a betaine surfactant (B), and a compd. (C) of the formula (R is 1-30C alkylene; S is a sulfur atom; and M1, M2, and M3 are each H, a monovalent metal atom, or an optionally substd. ammonium group) in a wt. ratio of A/B of (1/5)-(5/1) and in a wt. ratio of C/(A+B) of (1/100)-(1/1). Sufficient cleaning effects can be obtd. by further adding 0.5-20 wt.% alcoholic org. solvent to the compsn.
