PURPOSE: To eliminate the staining of a photosensitive body by constituting a liquid developing device which forms a developer supply passage between a main and an auxiliary facing electrode plate and performs development in the passage, and roughening the surface of the auxiliary electrode plate which faces the reverse surface of a photosensitive body.
CONSTITUTION: When the photosensitive body 1 is conveyed into the developer passage between the main electrode plate 4 and auxiliary electrode plate 5 by rollers 2 and 3, a developer is injected from a discharge opening 7 and flows down to stay at a liquid reservoir part 10. The photosensitive body 1 is conveyed in the passage with the latent image surface opposite to the main electrode plate 4, and its front end part is sent by a guide 11 to the liquid reservoir part 10 and then to the passage. In this case, the photosensitive body 1 is pressed up to the side of the auxiliary electrode plate 5 with the injected developer from the discharge opening 7. At this time, a rugged surface 12 covered with a film containing a conductive composite is formed on the surface of the auxiliary electrode plate 5, so the developer which falls by gravitation provides liquid bearing effect to accelerate the smooth forward movement of the photosensitive body 1. A latent image on the photosensitive body 1 becomes a stain- free visible image in the passage with toner in the forcibly injected developer and sent out with rollers 8 and 9.
