Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge device which adjusts a circulation flow rate of a liquid in a circulation passage on the basis of a detection result of residual vibration and thereby holds the proper discharge state.SOLUTION: An ink jet printer 100 includes: a discharge head 11 including a diaphragm 75, a piezoelectric element 76 which vibrates the diaphragm 75, a pressure chamber (a cavity 70) in which an internal pressure is increased or decreased by vibration of the diaphragm 75, and a nozzle 71 which communicates with the pressure chamber and discharges an ink 1 stored in the pressure chamber by utilizing the pressure increased or decreased in the pressure chamber; a detection part 40 which detects a discharge state of the nozzle 71 on the basis of a vibration pattern of residual vibration in the pressure chamber that is caused by driving of the piezoelectric element 76; an ink tank 14 which stores the ink 1; an ink circulation passage 80 serving as a circulation passage of the ink 1 between the ink tank 14 and the discharge head 11; and a control part 50 which changes a circulation flow rate of the ink 1 in the ink circulation passage 80 on the basis of the detection result of the detection part 40.
