To provide a liquid discharge head which displays high discharge efficiency and powerful discharge force by lessening resistance to be received from liquid when a movable member is displaced so that the movable member functions more effectively, at the time of a generated bubble acting upon the movable member.
A heating element 2 for generating a bubble in liquid flowing through a liquid flow path 10 by heating the liquid is provided on an element substrate 1. In addition, a movable member 31 is installed facing the heating element 2. The movable member 31 has a free end 32 on the discharge aperture 18 side and is displaced in a direction in which the movable member 31 becomes remote from the heating element 2 by pressure generated by the bubble, and is returned to its home position by the shrinking of the bubble. The movable member 31 becomes narrower gradually in width from an opposite face to the heating element 2 toward a face on the reverse side. Thus the movable member 31 is less resistive to the liquid when the former is displaced.
