To prevent overshoot of a meniscus after the completion of input of a driving signal to suppress deflection in a liquid discharge direction caused by bending of a projecting liquid column in a liquid discharge method including discharge ports for discharging liquid, individual liquid chambers communicating with the dischsrge ports, a vibrating plate that forms a part of an inside surface of each individual liquid chamber, and an actuator for changing the volume of the individual liquid chamber by deforming the vibrating plate, and inputting the driving signal to the actuator for the expansion, contraction, re-expansion and re-contraction of the individual liquid chamber to discharge liquid.

An auxiliary driving signal including a waveform portion for expanding the individual liquid chamber, and a waveform portion for returning the individual liquid chamber to the initial volume is input to the actuator so that the displacement of the vibrating plate from the appearance of minimum displacement of the vibrating plate after the completion of input of the driving signal until a point of time when a liquid column cut part is observed on the ejection port side is not less than the minimum displacement of the vibrating plate.
