PURPOSE: To provide a liquid fabric conditioning compsn. and a method of conditioning a fabric in an aq. washing bath.

CONSTITUTION: A liquid fabric conditioning compsn. comprising about 1 to 40 wt.% acyclic quat. ammonium salt as a fabric-softening component and a colorant system contg. a yellow colorant selected from the group consisting of C.I. Acid Yellow #17, C.I. Solvent Yellow #33 and C.I. Acid Yellow #3 and a red colorant selected from the group consisting of C.I. Reactive Red #56, I.C. Reactive Red #147 and C.I. Acid Red #52, and a method of softening a fabric with the same in an aqueous bath.
