To provide a liquid feeding device excellent in convenience of installation of a liquid feeding pump or maintenance and quickly block a passage of liquid in case of emergency, and to provide and its operation method.
The liquid feeding device comprises: a liquid reservoir tank 1, a column pipe 10 having a suction port 40a opened to the liquid reservoir tank 1; and the liquid feeding pump 30 installed in the column pipe 10. The liquid stored in the liquid reservoir tank 1 fed to the destination through the column pipe 10. A suction valve mechanism 40 abutted wit the suction port 40 a and having a cover body 42 for closing the suction port is installed to the column pipe 10. The suction port 40a is opened with a state where the liquid feeding pump 30 is put on the cover body, and the suction port 40a is closed when the liquid feeding pump 30 is spaced from the cover body 42. An emergency shutoff valve 50 is disposed to a suction port 48 of the liquid feeding pump 30, so as to close the suction port 48 in case of emergency to prevent the liquid in the liquid reservoir tank 1 from flowing into the column pipe 10.
