PURPOSE: To provide a combustion device for igniting liquid fuel in which a consumption power during combustion operation is reduced, tar generated within a gasification chamber is restricted and odor generated at the time of ignition is reduced.

CONSTITUTION: A liquid fuel combustion device is comprised of a gasification chamber 1 for gasifying fuel; a burner 23 communicated with the gasification chamber; a fuel nozzle 21 of which extremity end is adjacent to the gasification chamber 11; a fuel pump 22 for supplying fuel to the fuel nozzle 21; an air heating chamber 14 in which air flowing into the gasification chamber 11 is heated by an electrical heater 15; a heat exchanger 17 for heating air with combustion heat generated by the burner 23 and feeding the heated air to the gasification chamber 11; and a blower 18 for supplying air to the heat exchanger 17. A hot air bypassing passage 19 is arranged between an inlet and an outlet of the gasification chamber 11. Heat of the heat exchanger 17 heated by combustion heat is utilized with gasification heat to enable a consumption power to be reduced and at the same time fuel is dispersed into the hot air and gasified, thereby tar production to the gasification surface can be restricted and a proper amount of hot air is supplied to the gasification chamber 11 so as to get a stable gasification state and a stable combustion state.
