A liquid jet device includes: a supply-side valve 41 opening/closing a connection channel 40 that is a part of a supply path for supplying ink to a recording head 4; an attraction-side valve 47 opening/closing a waste liquid tube 49 that is a part of an attraction path for attracting the ink from a nozzle 32 of the recording head; and a pump for attracting the ink from the nozzle via the attraction path. After performing an attraction operation in a state of closing the supply-side valve and opening the attraction-side valve, the supply-side valve is opened after the attraction-side valve is closed.
