Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level detector for vehicles for obtaining improved detection precision by contriving the arrangement of a reflector for measuring a liquid level and that for measuring a propagation interval.
SOLUTION: A measurement plate 41 and a calibration plate 42 are arranged overlappingly in the advance direction of ultrasonic waves discharged by an ultrasonic sensor 3, and ultrasonic waves discharged from the ultrasonic sensor 3 are partially transmitted through the measurement plate 41 to reach the calibration plate 42. As a result, the shape of ultrasonic waves entering the measurement plate 41 and the calibration plate 42 is set to be in a conical shape, namely an axisymmetric shape, so that a diffraction phenomenon in ultrasonic waves and interference of ultrasonic waves at the boundary section of both the reflection members in a conventional liquid level detector are prevented. Therefore, since the ultrasonic sensor 3 stably receives reflection waves from a liquid surface 51 and those from the calibration plate 42, the liquid level detector 1 for vehicles for obtaining improved detection precision is achieved.
