To provide an link supply device, by which the viscosity of ink in a container is kept nearly constant.
A roller 10 is arranged in an ink container 4 so that some part of the roller 10 locates under the level surface of the ink 2. Through the rotation of the roller, the ink adhered to the surface of the roller reaches a controlling blade 16. Here, the ink is formed so as to have a uniform thickness in order to be supplied to an image carrier 22 arranged on the downstream side of the controlling blade 16 with respect to the direction of rotation of the roller 10. An ink supply device 1' has a solvent tank 36 for housing the solvent 34 of the ink therein, solvent supplying means 38 and 40 for supplying solvent from the solvent tank to the ink container and a controlling means for controlling the supply of solvent with the solvent supplying means. The controlling means has a sensor 42 for detecting the thickness of a thin ink film formed on the outer periphery of the roller so as to control the supplying amount of solvent by the solvent supplying means on the basis of the detected amount with the sensor.
