To prevent the drying of ink (layer) on a roller surface in a stop period of development operation by providing the above device with a control section for selectively executing a mode for supplying liquid material from a liquid material carrier to a member to be supplied or a mode for removing the liquid material from a liquid material carrier surface.
When a printing signal output section 40 attains an output state, the control section 42 drives a motor 44 and, therefore, plural rollers 14 and 22 rotate respectively. Even if the printing signal output section 40 changes over to a non-output state, the control section 42 continues the rotation of the roller 14 for a prescribed time. When this prescribed time elapses, the control section 42 energizes a solenoid section 46 and, therefore, a removable blade 29 comes into contact with the roller 14 and scraps the ink adhered to the surface of the roller 14. Then, when the roller 14 stops, the ink adhered to the surface of the roller 14 is already removed and, therefore, even if the long time elapses the phenomenon that the dried ink sticks to the surface of the roller 14 may be prevented.
