Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor which mixes multi-phase liquid ingredients uniformly and causes a reaction to proceed continuously.SOLUTION: In a reactor, a screw 12 is contained in a barrel 14, and the screw 12 and the barrel 14 are relatively rotatable and form a mixing region between them. The barrel 14 has one or more inlets 20 and 22 for introduction of ingredients to be mixed and an outlet 18 for taking out a product from the barrel 14. The screw 12 has at least one spiral groove 26, and the relative rotation of the screw 12 and the barrel 14 is adapted so that ingredients are transferred in the axial direction between the screw 12 and the barrel 14 during mixing of the ingredients and that a reaction product is extruded through the outlet 18. The surface area of a land between spiral grooves 26 in the mixing region is at least 50% of the surface of the screw 12.
