To provide a liquid separation method which can separate an upper layer liquid from a two-liquid layer structure separated by specific gravity without the use of a diaphragm such as a separation membrane.
This liquid separation method is to apply ultrasonic vibration to act on a first liquid layer and thereby, separate a second liquid from a second liquid layer. In this case, the second liquid layer is a layer, above the first liquid layer, which is separated from the first liquid layer by a specific gravity difference. In addition, the separator 10 comprises a container 11 for storing the first liquid layer and the second liquid layer separated from the first liquid layer by the specific gravity difference, and an ultrasonic vibrator 12 which generates ultrasonic vibration in the lower part of the first liquid layer. Further, the ultrasonic vibration is made to act on the first liquid layer so that the second liquid is separated from the second liquid layer.
