To improve the preserving performance of a lithium secondary battery using a lithium-manganese oxide for a positive electrode.
This lithium secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode composed of a positive electrode active material capable of storing /discharging a lithium ion, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. In the lithium secondary battery, the positive electrode is hydroxide, borate, or silicate and includes at least one of a compound of which an aqueous solution is alkaline. Preserving performance can be improved without increasing the inner resistance of a battery. Since the preserving performance of the battery using the lithium-manganese oxide for the positive electrode can be drastically improved, the lithium secondary battery superior in preserving performance and cycle performance can be inexpensively provided.
