A hybrid type lithium composite oxide contains, as a main component, a particulate lithium composite oxide comprising a core and a shell covering the core. The core comprises a lithium composite oxide A containing, as a main component, at least one selected from the group consisting of a spinel-type lithium composite oxide, an inverse spinel-type lithium composite oxide, a silicate-type lithium composite oxide, and an olivine-type lithium composite oxide. The shell comprises a lithium composite oxide B containing, as a main component, a layered lithium composite oxide.
