Abstract:

To provide a lithium composite oxide with which, when the lithium composite oxide is used as a positive electrode active material, a lithium ion secondary battery high in discharge capacity per volume and excellent in cycle characteristics when used in an atmosphere at temperatures higher than room temperature can be obtained.

A hybrid type lithium composite oxide contains, as a main component, a particulate lithium composite oxide comprising a core and a shell covering the core. The core comprises a lithium composite oxide A containing, as a main component, at least one selected from the group consisting of a spinel-type lithium composite oxide, an inverse spinel-type lithium composite oxide, a silicate-type lithium composite oxide, and an olivine-type lithium composite oxide. The shell comprises a lithium composite oxide B containing, as a main component, a layered lithium composite oxide.
