PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material having excellent battery characteristics and capable of obtaining excellent electrode peel strength, when being used for a negative electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery.SOLUTION: A method for producing carbonaceous-coated graphite particles for a lithium ion secondary battery negative electrode material includes: a pressurization step of anisotropically pressurizing spherical and/or ellipsoid graphite to obtain a graphite core material; and a mixing and firing step of mixing and firing a graphite core material obtained through the pressurization step and a carbonaceous precursor so that a carbonaceous material is coated on at least a part of the surface of the graphite core material.
