To provide a technique improving a battery characteristic at low temperature, in a lithium ion secondary battery using graphite for a negative electrode.
This technique includes processes of: preparing an electrode assembly using graphite for a negative electrode; forming an SEI coating on a surface of the negative electrode; and impregnating, into the electrode assembly, an electrolyte containing a propylene carbonate solvent, or a solvent prepared by adding, in propylene carbonate, an additive low in decomposition potential relative to that of propylene carbonate. By separating the process of forming the SEI coating from the process of impregnating the electrolyte into the electrode assembly, the secondary battery is completed by using the electrolyte low in viscosity even at low temperature.
