Abstract:
To obtain the subject inexpensive new compound oxide to be used as an anodic active material capable of constructing lithium secondary batteries with high discharge capacity and good cycle characteristics, and to provide a method for easily producing the above compound oxide.
This lithium manganese compound oxide with stratified rock salt structure of the formula Li1-xAxMnO2 (A is an alkali metal except Li; and 0<x<1) is such one as to substitute part of lithium atoms by larger alkali metal atoms to stabilize the crystal structure. The compound oxide is obtained by the following process: an aqueous solution of AMnO2 and a Li compound are mixed with each other, and the mixture is then heated to carry out a hydrothermal process.
