Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase high rate performance, discharge capacity, and cycle life by using a carbonaceous material mainly comprising specified fibrous carbon powder in which graphite crystalline orientation in cross section is radiate in a negative electrode.
CONSTITUTION: An insulator 2 is placed on a bottom of a stainless steel cup- shaped container 1, and an electrode group 3 is accommodated into the container 1. The electrode group 3 has structure obtained by sequentially stacking a positive electrode 4, a separator 5, and a negative electrode 6 in a belt shape, then spirally winding so that the negative electrode 6 is positioned on the outside. The negative electrode 6 has structure obtained by supporting a carbonaceous material capable of absorbing/desorbing lithium ions on a current collector by a binder, and the carbonaceous material mainly comprises fibrous carbon powder in which graphite crystalline orientation in cross section is radiated. Since 50 or more volume percent of the fibrous carbon powder is arranged so that direction of fiber length exists in an angle range of 0°±45° to the surface of the current collector, insertion/releasing reaction of lithium ions from the side surface of the powder is made easy. Thereby, high rate performance is enhanced.
