Abstract:

To provide a lithium transition-metal compound oxide for the positive electrode active material capable of structuring a secondary battery having excellent cycle characteristic, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof.

Lithium transition-metal compound oxide expressed with a composition formula LiNi1-xMnxO2(0.3<x<0.7) and containing Ni and Mn existing in a lithium site at a rate of 5% or less in relation to the whole of Ni and Mn and having the hexagonal system layered rock salt structure is used. The manufacturing method thereof includes a compound hydroxide synthesizing process for obtaining the Ni-Mn compound hydroxide, an oxidizing process for obtaining the Ni-Mn oxyhydroxide by oxidizing the Ni-Mn compound hydroxide, a raw material mixing process for obtaining the raw material mixture by mixing the Ni-Mn compound hydroxide and the lithium compound with each other, and a baking process for obtaining the lithium transition-metal compound oxide by baking the raw material mixture in the oxygen atmosphere.
