To provide a load control and protection system for protecting the load from overcurrent resulting from an open ground failure and the like.
A system (51) comprises: a DC terminal (27) which is connected to a DC bus (23); a load terminal (29) which is connected to a load (24); a ground terminal (28) which is connected to an external ground bus (25); and an input terminal (26) which receives an on/off instruction. An internal ground bus (60) of the system is usually connected to the external ground bus via the ground terminal. When the ground terminal is disconnected from the external ground bus due to a ground failure, however, the internal ground bus of the system is automatically connected to the load terminal, and synthetic ground which helps continuous operations of all peripheral circuits connected between the system and the DC bus, and the ground terminal is provided. By automatically adjusting serial impedance between the ground terminal and the load terminal before any peripheral circuit current which flows into the external ground bus through the system reaches the load and the external ground terminal, inappropriate operation of the load can be prevented from being caused.
