To provide an improved loadwheel assembly capable of accurately measuring a force generated by a tire, while simplifying the structure of a machine as a whole, enhancing the flexibility of maintenance or the care of the machine.
The loadwheel assembly for a tire testing machine has a loadwheel including a tire-contacting surface. The loadwheel rotates about spindles, the spindles being provided with load cells and mounted on a C-shaped carriage. The carriage has upper and lower legs, with the spindles fixed to one side of each leg, such that the load cells are readily accessible from one side of the carriage. The top and bottom parts of the carriage leg are selectively mounted on a guide member, the guide member slidably engages a complementarily shaped member secured to the machine frame to permit the carriage to be secured to the frame, with the load cells being disposed on either side of the carriage legs, thereby providing access to the load cells, irrespective of the layout of the machine.
