Abstract:

To eliminate problems with a conventional locating device for air cylinder such that stopping at the intended destination can not be obtained due to a delay caused by an air flow if the piston position is controlled only with air cylinder, position sensor, and linear servo valve and that a try to correct this deviation will actuate a permanent vibration of the piston.

An air cylinder locating device comprises an air cylinder, a piston accommodated therein movably and a valve to adjust the pressure in the cylinder, and is to stop the piston to the specified position by varying the air pressure through adjustment of the valve, wherein the current speed V of the piston is determined (S1), and the distance Xe from the current position IITI of the piston to its destination XDAT is determined (S2). From the obtained distance Xe, the optimum speed MSPD of the piston is determined (S3), and from the MSPD, the force manipulating amount F is determined (S5, S8, S10). On the basis of the force manipulating amount F, the valve is controlled so that the piston is moved to the destination.
