To provide a position management device and a position management method that can manage a floor position of materials and equipment.SOLUTION: A position management device includes: an information input unit 43 that acquires floor information indicating a position of an elevator car 31 from an elevator control device; an RFID reader 42 that acquires identification information from an IC tag 20 attached to an object to be managed housed in an elevator car 31; and a control unit 44 that associates floor information obtained by the information input unit 43 with identification information obtained by the RFID reader 42 to write it into the storage unit 45.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
