To provide a lock device for a vehicle, which allows an operator to easily release an electronic lock mounted on a door, even if a portable unit does not operate normally.

This lock device for the vehicle has: the portable unit for being carried by the operator; and a vehicle unit which is mounted on the vehicle so as to switch between the locking and unlocking of the electronic lock mounted on the door for the vehicle. The vehicle unit, which is equipped with a switch means for releasing the electronic lock and a personal identification number input means for releasing the electronic lock, transmits a collating signal when the switch means is turned on; the portable unit transmits a collation confirming signal when the collating signal is received; and the vehicle unit releases the electronic lock at the reception of the collation confirming signal and releases the electronic lock when the preset personal identification number is input by the personal identification number input means, at the nonreception of the collation confirming signal.
