To provide a turning lock for mailbox which is installed to the door of a mailbox and has a rotating and opening/closing knob that can be operated easily and surely for rotation and for opening and closing the door and from which coded characters used for locking and unlocking the lock can be read easily.
The lock 4 attached to the door of the mailbox has the turning and opening/closing knob 9 having an outside diameter that can cover the front- end expanded head section of a barrel section 5 and has a truncated conical shape which is expanded in diameter toward this side from the rear end of the barrel section 5 near the door along the turning axis of the knob 9. The coded characters 11 used for locking and unlocking the lock 4 are displayed on the peripheral edge 10 of the circular this-side surface 10 of the knob 9.
