PURPOSE: To improve fitting of a lock packing on a pipe body and a packing effect by a method wherein an annular packing material fitted in the outer periphery of the pipe body and a plurality of arcuate lock pieces are provided, the lock pieces of a plurality of mounting beds arranged in a peripheral direction are joined with a packing material, and a fixing pin is fitted in a lock hole formed in the lock piece.
CONSTITUTION: A lock packing comprises a packing material 1; and a plurality of lock pieces 8. A plurality of mounting beds 4 approximately in a triangular shape in cross section are protruded at intervals of a distance in a peripheral direction at the plane-form front end face 3 of the packing material 1 and fixing pins 6 provided at a tip with a lock head part are protruded from positions in the vicinity of the two ends of each mounting bed 4. During the use thereof, a press ring 16 is fitted in a pipe body 11 and by fastening a flange 13 and the press ring 16 by means of a bolt 19, the packing material 1 is compressed axially of a pipe through the lock piece 8 and the packing material 1 is adhered to a flange 13 and a pipe body 11. Further, the lock piece 8 is brought into pressure contact with the outer peripheral surface of the pipe body 11 as a result of the mounting bed 4 being pressed toward a recessed part 5.
